Recently I have returned to using fresh ginger root in my morning detox tea routine which currently consists of warm lemon water. I have decided to add ginger to my morning detox tea thereby creating a lemon and ginger tea which I drink first thing in the morning to get my metabolism moving as well as keeping my digestive system healthy. I decided to look into the health benefits of fresh ginger root which has been used for centuries for ailments and is now being recognised in scientific circles. I have made a list of some of my favourites below.

  1. Ginger can help with weight loss by boosting the metabolism
  2. Relieves heartburn
  3. Clears the skin
  4. Strengthens the immune system
  5. Reduces menstrual cramps
  6. It is antibiotic and anti-inflammatory
  7. Prevents motion sickness.

Taking It Off

Today I have been thinking a lot about the things we carry around with us everyday mainly negative thoughts, self doubt, painful memories, angst, you get the picture. As I thought about this I wondered what if we just turn all these feelings and emotions into proverbial baggage or stones to be thrown into a body of water sinking to the bottom never to be seen again. Sometimes you feel dragged down by others opinions of you or your work, acquaintances that leave you drained after interaction with them or just life in general. What if just for a moment we took a deep breath and let it all go?, expectations, ego, angst etc. we would be able to feel relieved, rejuvenated, free even. I have made it a ritual at the weekend especially on Sundays to reflect on the past week and let go of the things, people or situations that no longer serve me. Doing this creates a space for moving forward positively in the week ahead and in general for more good things to find their way into the space in your life where the negative clutter previously resided.

Sunny Sunday

As I try as much as possible to take a break on Sundays and slow down, I ponder the importance of taking stock of the previous week's activities and cautiously look toward the new week that is in front of me. It is important to take time for ourselves, slowing down the pace a little and doing little things that remind us of how we love not only our nearest and dearest but indeed our own selves. I love this quote that I rediscovered recently and had to share it below.
