Rose Quartz Facial Roller Benefits

image2 (7).jpeg
image1 (11).jpeg

I’m sure by now you must have come across facial rollers somewhere on your social media feed or online. It seems like jade facial rollers are having a moment and are being included in many a facial skincare routine and rightly so as Jade has been used for millennia in beauty routines in Asia. Facial rollers now come in other semi precious stones and for me it was a no brainer when I found out that you could get one made of Rose quartz. While Jade was used in the east in Asia, Rose quartz on the other hand was used in the beauty regimes of the ancient Egyptians for many reasons one of which is it’s connection to the energies of self love.

There are definite benefits to using a facial roller which I’ll go into below as well as a short how to on how to use your facial roller effectively. The benefits of using a rose quartz roller in your nightly facial skincare regimen include;

  • Improving skin elasticity

  • Reduces the appearance of and tightens pores

  • Toning the facial muscles and the skin

  • Helps the detoxification and lymphatic drainage processes

  • Helps to reduce the appearance of under eye bags and fine lines

  • Aids the absorption of facial serums / oils / treatments into the skin.

I usually incorporate the roller into my nighttime facial routine after cleansing and toning I use a serum or facial oil to help the roller glide over the skin and to help the nourishing ingredients penetrate into the skin. A favourite oil of mine to use is Rosehip seed oil. I use the roller as follows; In outward strokes rather than a back and forth motion.

Recommended Wellbeing Reads For Autumn / Winter

Eat beautiful

There's nothing that I like to do more during this season than curl up with a heavy blanket wrapped around me while I read through the contents of a good book. Lately I have been drawn to two wellbeing and beauty books that happen to be divided into seasonal sections and it is great to get some good information on how to look after yourself with the change in weather.

The first book is called Eat Beautiful by Wendy Rowe a  world-renowned make up and beauty expert who has worked with the likes of Cara Delevingne. This gorgeous book with beautiful seasonal sections on how to nourish and beautify yourself from the inside out, packed full of simple and nutritious recipes with a break down of all the nutrients available as well as their effect on our skin and body. This is definitely my beauty go to this season.

Nourish

The second book is "Nourish" authored by three ladies, Amber Rose, Sadie Frost and Holly Davidson. This too is another beautifully presented book divided into three sections on nutrition, homemade beauty and exercise tips and hints on how to nourish yourself and maintain a healthy mind, body & soul. It is definitely a great lifestyle addition to the reading list.

what books have you got on your seasonal reading list?

A Great Lipstick Shade For Autumn

Inglot lipstick
Inglot lipstick pink

On the rare occasions that I wear a lipstick during this time of year I like to use one that ticks a lot of boxes. Boxes such as being moisturising yet matte, a good all round shade and have great colour payoff as well as being long lasting. I think that I may have finally found a product that ticks all these boxes and a bit more. Inglot Matte lipstick in shade 419, is my product of choice, It is a lovely subtle plummy shade that is really complimentary for this autumn season.

As well as the previously mentioned benefits it contains some beneficial ingredients like macadamia oil, avocado oil and vitamin E which contribute to giving moisturised lips. The added nourishing ingredients are a bonus where this lipstick is concerned and why I would choose to use it and it is a great alternative to similar products like Mac for instance. I really loved the way that the lipstick lasted all day / night when applied and also kept my lips well nourished despite being a matte formula. The lipstick can be purchased from the Inglot UK Website and retails for around £13.

The Best Natural Deodorant I have Tried So Far

Naturaldeoco
natural deodorant

In my quest to replace all of my body care, cosmetic and toiletry products to more organic, animal and earth friendly alternatives, I have tried and tested an array of products. The one area that I had been having trouble with switching was deodorant. In the process of finding an all natural deodorant that actually worked and would not leave me with an unpleasant odour during periods of increased physical activity I have experienced a few successes and many fails. That was until I recently tried this offering from the Natural Deodorant Company. I had put off purchasing one of their deodorants as I had been largely discouraged with my failed experiences of other brands that offered the same promises and failed to deliver.

Biting the proverbial bullet I decided to give this particular brand a go and I was pleasantly surprised and grateful at the same time that I had finally come across a product that was the answer to all my deodorant woes. Not only is this deodorant effective in doing its job , it goes beyond that and actually keeps me smelling fresh after 24hrs. In addition to its effectiveness it is made from all natural ingredients such as organic coconut oil, and a gorgeous blend of essential oils which aid the product in doing its work, so it is kind to you, animals and the environment. Out of the three available formulas, I bought the Active balm in a Lime and Coriander scent and it smelled lovely!  this formula is for more active days and also comes in two other fragrances of Lemon & Geranium and Orange & Bergamot. I would wholeheartedly recommend this brand from my personal experience and say that nothing worked as well as this for me, I'll definitely be going back for more.

Have you ever tried this brand of deodorant?, if so how was it for you?

How To Use And Why I Love The Konjac Facial Sponge

image3 (2).JPG

Recently I have been looking for a more sustainable and gentle way to cleanse my face without the use of drying facial cleansers and exfoliants and I happened to come across a curious little item called a Konjac sponge. My curiosity got the better of me and I had to get my hands on a couple of these sponges, try them out and do some more research about them to find out exactly how they work and the benefits of using a Konjac sponge as a facial cleanser.

A Konjac sponge consists of a fibrous natural sea vegetable much like a potato, it is rich in natural minerals and free of any additives or colourants. Although free from any additives, you can also find Konjac sponges with added red or green clay as well as bamboo charcoal which can be used for various skin types and needs. I managed to get hold of three of these sponges in bamboo charcoal, green clay and plain old original variations.

Bamboo charcoal ~ this variation is great for oily skin or skin prone to outbreaks as the bamboo charcoal has natural anti-oxidant and antibacterial properties which help get rid of ace causing bacteria.

Green clay ~ the French green clay sponge is a good choice for normal to combination skin as it contains antibacterial micro molecules which help get rid of oil, bacteria and dirt.

Original ~ the original Konjac sponge is white with no additives and is 100% natural and organic . It helps to balance the pH of the skin as it is alkaline in nature.

In addition to the variations that I managed to pick up, you can also find red clay and pink clay variations with the associated benefits. To use the sponge which usually comes sealed and dry, you simply add water!, this makes the sponge expand, soft and easy to cleanse the face with using small circular motions. Although you can use a facial cleanser with the sponge it isn't necessary or recommended as this can shorten the life of the sponge which would normally be between two and three months. The reasons i love the Konjac sponge are many but to highlight a few, I love the way that it gently cleanses and exfoliates. The Konjac sponge is 100% natural, it is sustainable, biodegradable, vegan and gluten free.

Have you used a Konjac sponge as part of your cleansing ritual? if so I would love to hear how you found it and if it has worked for your skin.

New Beginnings And Fresh Sugar Rose Lip Treatment Review

So it has been quite a while since my last blog post, this is mainly because I have been going through some changes in my everyday life, one major one was moving house, which was both exciting and stressful in equal measure, lots of adjustments and new surroundings to get used to. I am now at a place where I am slowly settling into my new abode and figuring out the little everyday things and that lovelies is why I have been a bit absent for the last month or so.

During my hiatus, I came across this product that literally restored my faith in good quality treatment for the lips. Now if you didn't already know I am a self confessed lip balm connoisseur and I love a good moisturising product on my lips. Fresh cosmetics do a range of gorgeous lip treatments and the one I picked to try first was the Sugar rose lip treatment. It has a really subtle rose tint to it and doesn't look too waxy on the lips or unnaturally pigmented, it blends in lovely when applied gives a subtle sheen. One thing I have to mention about this lip balm is that the first thing I noticed when applying it was how incredibly moisturising it is and how the moisture last a good few hours after it is first applied to the lips.

Lastly but certainly not least this lip balm has the most gorgeous rose scent it is quite subtle and refreshing although it has no flavour to it. Retailing at about £19 it is definitely pricey but worth every penny considering that the product is made with some of the most premium natural and organic ingredients around.
