Oil Pulling With Coconut Oil

I decided recently to write a post about the subject of oil pulling as I have been asked about it by a few people. It is an old yet simple natural and holistic practice that has a host of benefits of which I get asked the most about is the teeth whitening aspect of this practice. I can personally attest to having a brighter whiter smile with continuos use of oil pulling amongst other benefits.

Here are some reasons you may want to try using coconut oil in an oil pulling routine.

  • Boosts the immune system and improves health
  • Helps to clear spots and acne
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Whitens teeth, strengthens gums and freshens breath
  • Detoxifies the body

 

INGREDIENTS

1 Tbsp Organic coconut oil

 

METHOD

First thing in the morning before you eat or brush your teeth take the 1 Tbsp of coconut oil and put it in your mouth

As the coconut oil is solid at room temperature you may need to chew it a little to help it melt in your mouth

Do not gargle the coconut oil but swish the oil around your mouth pulling it in between your teeth and gums, do this for around 15 to 20 minutes (it helps if you have something else to do while doing this to pass the time)

After the recommended time, spit out the coconut oil into a waste paper basket or a bag not the sink as it will contain toxins and also because you don't want to clog up your sink with oil!

Rinse your mouth out with salt water afterwards (this is completely optional)

Brush your teeth as normal

Ideally you can oil pull between 4 to 7 times a week and should notice results fairly soon.
